All registered accompanying persons are invited to attend the
Welcome reception on Thursday, October 23, 2008 at 19:00, and two half-day tours:
Half-Day Athens City Tour: Duration: approximately 3.5 hours
Panoramic tour by bus plus a visit to the Acropolis.
The Acropolis of Athens and its monuments are universal symbols of the classical spirit and civilization, and form the greatest architectural and artistic complex bequeathed to the world by Greek Antiquity.
Half-Day Cape Sounion Tour: Duration: 4 hours
Driving along the coastal road past the wonderful beaches of Glyfada, Vouliagmeni and Varkiza, one has a splendid view of the Saronic Gulf.
A crowning feature is the tour of Cape Sournio, dominated by the spectacular temple of Poseidon overlooking the Aegean Sea.
Cape Sournio has been recognized since prehistorical times as a special place of worship and was an important sanctuary during the Greek Archaic, Classical and Hellenistic periods. Below Poseidon's temple is a small bay hosting two small tavernas.
