Professor Gregory Dore is Head of the Viral Hepatitis Clinical Research Program, Kirby Institute, University of New South Wales and an Infectious Diseases Physician at St Vincent’s Hospital, Sydney. He has been involved in viral hepatitis and HIV for 15 years, in academic research, clinical, and public health policy capacities.
Professor Dore’s major research work has been in the areas of viral hepatitis natural history and therapeutic strategies, including coinfection with HIV. He has published over 170 peer-reviewed publications and has current research funding from Australia’s National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) and the US National Institutes of Health. He is a member of the World Hepatitis Day International Clinical and Public Health Advisory Panel and previously a member of the WHO Expert Panel on Global Burden of Hepatitis C Disease. He has made major contributions to Australian public health policy in viral hepatitis and is President of the Australasian Society for HIV Medicine (ASHM).
